Research over the past few years has confirmed that what you eat has a tremendous effect on your overall health.  When it comes to a diet high in cancer-fighting substances, experts agree that it should be made of predominantly plant-based diet.  So, an anti-cancer diet would involve eating plenty of organic fruits and veggies.

To compile a list of cancer-fighting foods, one should consider organic fruits, veggies, herbs, and protein.  Some foods reduce inflammation which is known to encourage cancer growth.  Others foods stimulate cancer cell death, while others help the body eliminate toxic waste and hunt free radicals.  The combination of these foods will attack any illness possible!

Cancer-Fighting Foods that Should Be Introduced in Your Everyday Diet:

1. Carrots

Carrots contain beta-carotene, a compound which promotes good vision, boosts the immune system, and supports the skin and mucus membranes.  Carrots are also high in antioxidants, which have been shown as capable of protecting the cell membranes from toxin damage.  In addition, the antioxidant content in carrots can inhibit cancer cell growth, too.

2. Tomatoes

Lycopene found in tomatoes is a powerful antioxidant whose regular consumption is associated with lower risk of developing prostate cancer.

3. Beans

Beans are excellent source of fiber and phytochemicals.  The latter have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and delay tumor progression. Beans are abundant in folate and vitamin B as well, both of which are associated with a lower risk of developing pancreatic cancer. Note that these compounds are found in ORGANIC beans only.

4. Grapes

Grapes are packed with resveratrol, a compound which has been shown to reduce inflammation, prevent the oxidation of bad cholesterol, inhibit the growth of cancer cells, and fight against various cancer types.  Cranberries, blueberries and pomegranates are also good sources of this cancer-fighting compound, so make sure you add more of them into your daily diet.

5. Garlic

The sulfur content in garlic prevents the development of cancer cells, forces cancer cell death, and promotes DNA repair. Other sources of this cancer-fighting compound include shallots, leeks, onions, and chives.  Studies show that regular consumption of these foods could help destroy prostate, colon, breast, cancer, and lung cancer cells.

Sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinos in cruciferous veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, bok choy, kale, and cabbage are known as potent anti-cancer agents.  They work by detoxifying the body and preventing the pre-cancerous cells from becoming cancerous.  A study done by the American Institute for Cancer and the World Cancer Research Fund has shown that broccoli and other cruciferous veggies help prevent mouth, stomach, and esophagus cancer.

10. Sea Veggies

The most nutrient-dense and health-promoting sea veggies include Kelp, Nori. Kombu, and Arame.
