Mold usually appears in dark areas due to excess moisture. Sometimes it can be very difficult to eliminate it from your home. Luckily, there are five natural ways which can help you effectively get rid of mold without using chemical cleaners.

However, you should bear in mind that some of these methods have strong and unpleasant smell, especially vinegar or tea tree oil. The scent of tea tree oil can last up to a few days so make sure you can stand the smell before applying it. You can mix two teaspoons of tree tea oil with two cups of water spray on the affected area and allow it to dry.

Vinegar

Despite its strong smell, vinegar is very effective in killing mold. The procedure is very easy. Put the apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and apply to the area where mold is growing. Allow it to act for up to four hours. Next, brush away the mold with a brush. If you cannot stand the smell of vinegar you can add a few drops of essential oil in order to neutralize the odor. White vinegar has proved to kill over 4/5 of mold spores. Also, it has the ability to kill viruses and bacteria.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Make a mixture using 3% hydrogen peroxide and water. Spray the affected area and allow it to act for 10 minutes. Then, scrub the area using a clean washcloth. If you mix it with vinegar you will get double-effect cleaner. This mixture should be stored away from sun since hydrogen peroxide easiy breaks down when exposed to sunlight.

Citrus Seed Extract

Grapefruit extract or tea tree oil can have the same effects as vinegar, just without the strong smell. Combine 20 drops of extract with two cups of water. Use it as a spray and apply directly to the mold. Do not wash the solution since it can alter the effects.

Baking Soda

This ingredient can be used on its own r combined with vinegar and water. Dissolve it water and spray on the affected area, or combine it with vinegar and water. Apply on the affected are and let it act for several minutes. Next, scrub it with wet washcloth. This mixture can also have a faint scent.

These natural ingredients will keep your house clean with just a little effort. They are much better alternative than the chemical cleaners which almost always leave some traces after cleaning the surface.
