Here is an easy and fun way to make tie dye t-shirts with the kids this Summer.
This tie dye technique is super cool for kids to watch, and the t-shirts themselves make a great addition to their Summer wardrobe.
Glow-in-the-Dark Tie Dying for Kids
What could make tie dying even more fun? Making it glow of course! My kids had a blast making their own glow-in-the-dark shirts, and they LOVE wearing them! Are you ready to make your own?
- Begin by having kids draw a design on their t-shirt. They can draw a traditional tie-dye type design, or they can get creative with it.
- Once they are done creating with the Sharpies give them a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol.
- Have them spray their artwork with the rubbing alcohol and then use cotton swabs to blend the colors
- After a bit of blending your child will be left with a super cool t-shirt that they made themselves!
Don’t stop at t-shirts! You can use this Sharpie tie-dying technique to make all sorts of glow-in-the-dark creations. Here are a few ideas:
- Tie-dye shoes
- Tie-dye hat
- Tie-dye dress
Note: You can get neon Sharpies in a variety of colors on Amazon here. The flashlights that we use for our glowing activities can be found here. When using a blacklight I also recommend these uv-safety glasses. My girls love wearing them, and they will protect kids eyes if (or shall we say when) they shine the lights at each other.
