Japanese wine contains cabernet grapes and catnip, but it’s missing a crucial component.
First, there was an organic beer for dogs, Dawg Grog. Now, there’s a wine for cats called Nyan Nyan Nouveau. Neither contains alcohol. The beer for dogs is made from spent grains, vegetable broth and a supplemental powder. It’s meant to be a healthy addition to a dog’s diet.
The wine for cats, on the other hand, is strictly for fun. It’s made from cabernet grapes and contains catnip. So, while the pampered cat that’s served Nyan Nyan Nouveaux won’t get drunk, it may experience a little “kitty high.”
Nyan Nyan in Japanese is the same as “meow, meow” in English. A bottle runs the equivalent of $4, and this wine has a limited run. Only 1,000 bottles were produced, so the chances of anyone in the U.S. getting their hands on one are slim.
If you really want to pamper your cat with kitty wine, buy some grape juice, add some catnip to it, and pour it into an empty bottle. Fluffy won’t know you made it yourself, I promise. I can’t promise she’ll drink it though. But who knows, maybe with the catnip, it will be irresistible.
