U.S. Marine Cpl. Caleb Earwood and his wife, Maggie, caused quite the controversy when photos of their Asheville, North Carolina wedding hit the internet. Traditionally, the groom is not supposed to see the bride on the day of their nuptials until she walks down the aisle.
However, Caleb wanted to pray with his soon-to-be wife before the ceremony, so according to ABC News, he was led to the cabin where she was getting ready and the two prayed standing on opposite sides of the wall (so as not to get a peek at each other).
Photographer Dwayne Schmidt told ABC News that the couple was extremely emotional, causing everyone in the room, including himself, to choke back tears.
Maggie Earwood’s response to the commotion surrounding her now-viral wedding photos? She told ABC News, “It broke me down to know that we felt the same way about God. It just made me happy.”
While some traditions are rather nice, we loved the Earwood’s decision to prioritize their faith above wedding day superstitions and wish the happy couple years of happiness together!
What do you think about their decision? Is this the right thing to do or should some wedding traditions be upheld? Sound off in the comments below and make sure to share if you found this intimate moment as moving as we did.
